History: Jack doesn't remember much. Or maybe he blocked it all out. The last thing he remembers was waking up in the middle of the street in Rukongai. A kind family adopted him but Jack never felt like a real part of the family. He occasionally had dreams, night terrors that he couldn't understand but boy were they bad. Some nights he was gambling and drinking in his dreams. Other nights therewere scenes on a pier, his body heavy and bound, tossed into the stormy depths.
He found solace in the morning chores he did for his family. There was a recruiting drive for the shinigami academy with an odd test about holding a strip of paper between one's index finger and thumb. Jack's had left a mark between the space he had pinched on the paper and he had been invited to enroll.
